How It Works

Along with an anesthetic cream, the Vi Peel is applied topically. Some slight stinging may occur, which should subside almost immediately. Skin will appear slightly red and will tighten the first few days after treatment. Peeling of the skin following treatment should begin on day 3 or 4 and last for about a day. Skin peeling is easily hidden with moisturizer if necessary. Full results should be visible in about a week.

Vi Peel can be repeated as often as every 2 weeks for especially damaged skin, but most patients are able to maintain a smoother and brighter complexion through treatments about every 3 months.

Risks and Complications

Keep in mind that all elective treatments come with some level of risk, though medical spa services like Vi Peel have an excellent track record of safety when performed by a qualified professional. Like all chemical peels, the Vi Peel may produce swelling and inflammation. Infection is less common, as are skin pigmentation irregularities and scarring.

It is important to limit sun exposure and apply a high-quality sunscreen in the days following your Vi Peel. In general, the use of sunscreen will both protect your results and limit further skin discoloration and spotting. Avoiding sun exposure is particularly important on the days when the skin is peeling, to avoid uneven skin coloration.
