MicroLipo LaserLow-level-laser-assisted liposuction is predicted to be the future of liposuctionThe Erchonia laser is a handheld portable diode laser that generates no heat and therefore causes no tissue damage. Used during tumescent liposuction, it has been shown to disrupt fat cell membranes, facilitating fat extraction. It also leads to decreased bruising, less dimpling, and smoother skin post-operatively. First, the treatment area is infiltrated with tumescent anesthesia. Then the low-level-laser light is passed in a sweeping motion over the area for 6-12 minutes to soften the fat for liposuction. Once liposuction is complete, the laser is used again, this time in pulsed mode, for 4 minutes at each of three different frequencies that have been shown in previous studies to improve wound healing, to accelerate the inflammatory process, and to reduce pain. Studies show patients have healed faster, had less drainage, and experienced more comfort postoperatively when the laser was used. Patients also claim that their skin is smoother and softer following the procedure. |
